Salary:£6.09 per hour

Working on board our ferries, you'll serve a range of food and drinks and ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all catering and customer areas during the crossing. Confident dealing with customers, your cash handling skills and common-sense approach will make you a vital part of the team. Experience of working within catering and retail would be an advantage, although full training will be given. However because we serve alcohol on board you'll need to be at least 18 years of age.

Hours are based on 42 per week working a rostered shift system covering a 24-hour operation over 7 days a week.

Red Funnel only operates between Southampton and Isle of Wight and there is no accommodation on board. Therefore, you would need to reside in the local area.

Job Description

1. To assist in the preparation, cooking, display and serving of all food and beverages on board the ferries to the agreed standards as set down by the Company.

2. To operate tills and cash handling in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

3. To provide a high standard buffet and bar service to customers.

4. To follow till procedures at all times when serving customers.

5. To ensure that all tables, chairs, floors and counter service are kept clean and tidy at all times, to levels defined in the Food Policy Document.

6. To assist with the washing-up of all light equipment from the food servery and galley.

7. To assist with the storing and de-storing of the boat on a daily basis.

8. To adhere to Company policy when dealing with customer comments and complaints.

9. To provide advice and assistance to passengers when required.

10. To be aware of and comply with the Food Safety Act, Health and Safety Regulations and the Marine Safety Agency.

11. To collect stores when required, and store in a safe manner on board.

12. To assist with passengers as required.

13. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned from time to time.

14. All employees are required to accept responsibility for personal development within the scope of their role, and to encourage the development of others.

Working Conditions:
Based afloat; either Red Falcon, Red Eagle, Red Osprey

Qualifications/ Education Required: (Full training will be provided)
Basic Sea Survival
Basic Food Hygiene
On board safety training

Experience Required:
Catering experience, an advantage
Customer Service experience, an advantage
Cash handling.

Aptitude/ Skill Required:
Good communication skills
Team player
Mature disposition (to be able to act responsibly in an emergency)
Excellent customer service skills.
