Red Funnel appoints new Fleet Director

Red Funnel, the original cross-Solent ferry operator, has appointed Captain Keith Edwards MNI to the new position of fleet director.

Edwards will have board level responsibility for marine operations comprising the company’s fleet of 3 ro-ro vessels & 4 Hi-Speed catamarans and associated shore infrastructure.

Joining the Company from Meridian Marine Management Ltd. where he was a senior manager responsible for the Norse Merchant Group Fleet, one of the key focuses in Edwards’ new role will be the maintenance and monitoring of the company’s safety management systems and ensuring punctual and reliable operations.

Edwards brings with him a total of 35 years shipping experience. Having started with P & O as a deck cadet, he then rose through the ranks to become a Ship’s Master with Channel Island Ship Management Ltd in 1990. He then moved ashore into the operational management side of the business in 1997.
