Red Funnel

Both Southampton and the Isle of Wight are well served by taxi and private hire firms.

• Taxi's (or hackney carriages) can be hailed, hired from a taxi rank or pre-booked. They have a roof sign and fares are regulated.
• Private hire vehciles must be pre-booked and are identified by signs on the side of the vehicle which gives details of the operator. Fares are not regulated and can be agreed at the time of booking.

There is a taxi rank in Fountain Yard (tel. 0800 043 6343) just outside the entrance to Red Funnel's West Cowes terminal. Allow 15-20 minutes for a journey between West Cowes and Newport.
